League Theme Deck for Math n' Stuff's 8/17/17 League "Unsung Heroes" challenge.

Deck building requirements were that we must include at least one of:

(Other standard deck building rules applied)

Decks played against:

Mostly it's a modified It's a Trap! deck with some silly things added in for flavor. I used alt-art character cards (Old 90's Decipher CCG Leia Organa and Rebel Trooper) for style. The deck did surprisingly well, although most of the games were very close and the blue deck totally crushed the poor Tantive IV crew.

In some ways, it played sort of like a Captain Phasma - Elite Trooper deck. Load upgrades onto Leia, and pick apart your opponent's dice with die removal events and the Guardian ability on Rebel Trooper. Best-case scenario was to setup a quick Hit and Run + It's a Trap! while your opponent has a side showing to take a character out quickly, although this was a bit harder without Wingman so Leia usually had to try to pull this off on her own.

Surgical Strike was tech against a possible Support Meta, which presented itself with the Mon Mothma - Skilled Politician deck. (Blew up both of the deck's U-Wings, which were way more dangerous in a three character deck meta than any of their characters.)

R2-D2, C-3PO, and Our Only Hope were there to get the Death Star plans off of the ship just in case.

Resistance HQ was actually surprisingly useful end game as it helped me keep Leia alive against a presence in opposing decks. It worked best after they had spent all their cash and / or had already claimed the battlefield.

I probably should have run Holdout Blaster over Training, but the Rebel Trooper's die isn't terrible and Holdout doesn't play well with It's a Trap!, Suppression, or Surgical Strike. The deck did alright without the holdouts and Promotion did it's job for ramping into 3-cost upgrades really well, so I didn't miss holdout's redeploy too much.

Squad Tactics and Wingman were cut because I usually want to slow-roll in each Rebel Trooper to maximize my use of their Guardian ability.

Rebel Assault was also a star card as it's cheap removal for some key dice when they roll anything other than damage to get rid of them before they can reroll. (Or remove to remove an important )

So, why Leia Organa - Born Leader over Mon Mothma - Skilled Politician or Admiral Ackbar - Perceptive Tactician? For me it was mostly because I just wanted to play Leia, but Leia also has 50% damage on her die as opposed to Ackbar's single ranged side and Mothma's none. She's got 11 health compared to each of their 9s, although I did envy Mothma's free reroll ability. Sure, you only roll 1 die instead of 2, but it's a solid die! (Also... Leia! What's not to like?) I only ended up using her re-roll ability once the entire evening because I either didn't want to lose her damage or her die was removed quickly by opponents.

It was a fun deck for a night where everyone was playing with mostly unseen characters, but it'll probably retire as it's not really all that competitive, (especially with the droids and Our Only Hope gamble)
