Took this deck to the Top 4 at the US Nationals. Below is a brief description of what I played each round. Dark Counsel, Closing the Net and Maul's were only included to play against 3 wide mill. If I had to do it again I'd swap Maul's for a second Heirloom and swap Intimidate for We Have them Now.

The only game I'm really disappointed with was the 6th round Day 1, was a super tight game and my last action I made a huge misplay - I played an Ancient as the last card in my hand when I knew he had Hyperspace Jump because I had seen it the turn before with Kylo. Had I Healed with my other Ancient, then played the Ancient I probably would have rolled out enough to kill Cassian on 4 life.

Congrats on the great finish. I was playing at the table next to you also with Kylo/Pryce when you made the misplay round 6. I thought you had that for sure! I was rooting for you to make the finals! You also played my buddy round 2 w/ Finn/Rex

Good job there. Curious, why Closing the Net? Is it counter mill?

ABG_Dave 141

@EdgySithLord thanks! He was a great player and it was a fun game.

@Scactha Whenever you're mitigating a die youre still losing a card so the mill player is still gaining when you mitigate. Closing the net removes a die that will probably mill 1 or 2 cards and doesn't cost you a card in the long run. It's also red which helped in the Kylo mirror

Great performance from a fellow KRAP player, I took mine to Top 8 at UK Nationals. Why no Probe? Its a blow out card in my deck and really helps against the Kylo mirror. I too adore We Have Them Now I love that in a fast deck. Personally I went Vibroknife over Shoto Lightsaber but that was only for unbloackable damage. Amazing run congrats!

ABG_Dave 141

@Sith Holocron I played with Probe for a good 30 games and felt it did the same thing as CQA just slightly less good. Vibroknife is a solid call but I wanted It Binds All Things over Logistics so they became Shoto Lightsabers. I knew there would be a bunch of indirect decks so wanted something to generate shields.

Scactha 888

@Fool Yup, my reasoning too. Good call.

is Closing The Net in there for anti-mill?

ABG_Dave 141

@Ramin2-D2 Since multiple people have been like "wtf Closing the Net?" I'll go a little deeper on it. My initial reason for including it was 100% mill but I found it had several other uses against meta decks as well.

1) Great against Mill (essentially protects at least 2 cards whenever played, 3 if you can get it to remove a Cassian/Ani's Podracer die)

2) Solid against anything that has an abnormal amount of consistency. This includes, Snoke, Yoda, Talzin or any vehicle player that likes to roll a big vehicle die first. In most scenarios you're going to remove 2+ damage when playing against those decks even if the die you remove isn't showing it at the time.

3) It's another red card to edge out the Kylo mirror.

what about New Orders in case ya dont get the battlefield? or did you just think not worth it

ABG_Dave 141

@WillHope@DF I tested extensively with New Orders and decided against it. The only time I found myself really wishing for it was on turn two of games where I had lost the battlefield roll, claimed on the first turn AND didn't roll a special on Arihnda when I activated her. Outside of that one very specific scenario it was almost always a dead card because of the high resource cost. Getting an upgrade on the table was always better.

Personally I think if any deck can't win without the battlefield claim then it's probably not an amazing deck. There's an exception for decks designed specifically to abuse the battlefield (Like Grand Moff Thrawn/Snoke) but Kylo/Pryce isn't one of those decks

WillHope@DF 247

@Fool Yeah that sounds totally reasonable. I think Id always rather have less impactful cards that are good in both battlefield situations than cards that are only good if I lose the battlefield, too. Thanks for your thoughts and congrats!
