Book 1394

It's simple: Grievous is a threat from moment one. Bala is weaker. Use the former to mow down a character or two while you upgrade the latter. If and when Grievous is killed, Bala is now ready to pick up the slack.

Some notes:

Me thinks Grievous is typically better with a blue partner; you get sabers, Holocron, Force Training, etc. However, because Bala has two ranged sides (one of which is admittedly modified, and he likely will be the last man standing on your side, it is important to edge into his wheelhouse. The inclusion of numerable ranged weapons accomplishes this. Jetpack reinforces this while offering us some die removal and shields. We have 4 redeploy weapons we can drop on Grievous as needed--after all, if they go for Bala first you are likely winning (or rolling so poorly that you want to commit seppuku).

The deck really just runs two types of cards:

  1. Aggression: most of the equipment, Backup Muscle, On the Hunt, Reversal, All In, Tactical Mastery

AND

  1. Defense: Electroshock, Jetpack, On the Hunt, Dug In, He Doesn't Like You, Reversal, Hunker Down, Unpredictable

The deck has a cost-efficient curve: only two three drops in Commanding Presence, which is well worth it and reroll fodder once Grievous is ousted, and a single Reversal.

I see many decks with Grievous playing tons of 3 cost cards, Underworld Connections, and things like Datapad when really you just want to deal as much damage as possible. In my humble opinion, cards like Cunning do not really belong in a build like this, even with a handful of targets. Your upgrades need damage potential.

Some options for those that would like to tailor the deck:

CUT: Promotion--due to its limited impact and inability to be played on Bala ADD: Comlink--for rerolls and more focus to ensure your ranged results are hitting.

Some may ask about Probe, but it isn't helping us deal damage and is slowing down claiming to ensure we hit first and try and exploit the battlefield, whatever it may be.

This is great little deck. With Jango subbed in, it really becomes a different build at that point. Bala's greatest strength is in his unassuming impact from the go. Using Grievous as the tank affords you the necessary time to make Bala baller.
