This is a concept build for a mill deck. Padme Amidala has a 1:3 chance of activating her special ability on a normal roll and causing the opponent to mill their deck. Leia Organa was considered as the second character in the deck because she would give 2 more dice for the roll off at the beginning of the game and her ability helps with dice consistency. However, Qui-Gon Jinn gives access to the cards Patience and Return of the Jedi potentially allowing for even greater milling and the shields on his die better fit the defensive strategy the deck will employ.

For the battlefield I have chosen to use the Command Center for 2 reasons. First it furthers the milling strategy of the deck. Second, and possibly more importantly, it likely benefits me far more than my opponent. Unless they are also playing a mill deck, they will be little motivated to claim the battlefield. Alternatively I considered Echo Base for the defensive aspects, but my opponent might then be motivated to claim the battlefield for themselves to gain the shield, or to deny me the extra defenses. Unfortunately as I will only have 3 character dice for the roll off at the beginning of the game it is likely I will not be able to choose the battlefield. For this reason I have included a Hyperspace Jump. This serves not only to completely disrupt a turn that looks likely to benefit my opponent more than me, but also to deprive them of their chosen battlefield and instead give me mine.

Because of Patience's effect I want the deck to include as many dice as reasonably possible. In addition to BB-8 there are 11 different Upgrades in the deck and all but 1 provide an additional die to the pool. Ultimately what I roll on them is of less importance than in most decks since I can simply feed them all into Patience if they aren't what I am looking for. BB-8 is included to help me focus my dice and gain some consistency to my rolls as is Use The Force and One with The Force. This last card also provides a ridiculously good dice that remains even if Qui-Gon Jinn should fall.

Draw Attention, Diplomatic Immunity, Jedi Robes, Defensive Stance, Force Protection, and Second Chance all provide extra survivability to my characters.

Negotiate is included to help deal with aggressive opponents. Ideally this is played when they have few dice to choose from to remove thus ensuring they remove the ones I have in mind. Jedi Council can be used to further the milling strategy, weaken their deck, or even help me find a missing piece of my own strategy. Thanks to Return of the Jedi, I can always just discard an event to the Jedi Council knowing I can get it back when I need it.

The last card, Cunning, is included primarily to activate my own special abilities, especially Force Protection or Padme Amidala, although if it is beneficial I might choose to still the opponent's effects.

A nice deck. And I'm not just saying that because it looks a lot like mine ;)

I don't run Draw Attention and All In. But I run 2 Datapads to make sure I have more resources for the higher cost upgrades and more dice for Patience.

Hyperspace Jump is definitely a card I need in my deck too, also because Starship Graveyard completely ruins the mill deck strategy.

Also I see you are not running any Hunker Down, any reason for that? I think it's a fantastic defensive card, along with Deflect.

Awesome Deck!

Looking forward to playing against this at Epic!

@Caprid I just took a look at your deck and you are right, they are very similar. Great mind's think a like! I do think your's focuses a little differently than mine and I would be curious to see how that works out for each of them.

As for some of your specific questions, I can only share my thinking behind what I included and didn't. At this point, there isn't really any way to know if I made the right call so I could be completely wrong.

I did not include Datapad, though I did consider it, because it has a 1:3 chance of giving me nothing on a natural roll and only a +1 resource another 1:3. While the special ability would certainly be useful, it doesn't feel like it would be consistent. Now I did say that because of Patience I am less concerned about the specifics of my rolls, but if I have to choose, I'd rather include a more useful card.

Hunker Down and Deflect are definitely good cards. However, my damage output is very low so the damaging aspect of Deflect isn't likely to matter much, just the remove a ranged dice part. Although with Return of the Jedi, I can benefit from it's effects again. Hunker Down creates shields which is great, but disappears if the character suffers melee damage. This would result in me spending more effort to prevent the opponent from getting melee damage results rather than focusing on my own strategy. Also rules question... If Amidala has 2 shields on her and Hunker Down, and then my opponent deals 1 melee damage to her, does she "suffer" melee damage for the purposes of Hunker Down? I assume she doesn't because of the shields but if not than I am especially uninterested in including the card.

Those are my thoughts, but I enjoy debate so please let me know if you disagree.

On the rules insert, it specifically says "if the character has any shields, BLOCK (emphasis mine) 1 damage for each shield on the character. After a shield blocks damage, remove it from the character." It seems pretty clear that you never take the damage in the first place so Hunker Down is still decent. It's best in a shield focused control deck like this imo. I'd probably drop one BB-8 and one All In for 2 Hunker Down. I don't think you'll really need to waste too much time and effort above and beyond what you already would just to keep Hunker Down in play. If you're facing swarm, it's likely moot. Against Vader aggro you'll want to remove his high damage melee rolls anyway usually. Etc.

@H3pat1tvsJ That does make Hunker Down a solid card and I agree this is the right kind of deck for it. Your card replacement suggestions are probably the best choices as well. I was already wondering if I should play 2 BB-8 and I have been unsure about All In as well. I think that I will probably make that change.

Glad I could help. :) I'm dying for this to release so I can get my 3 boxes and start trading and make decks. I'm looking forward to playing this discard archetype, Vader/Kylo aggro, and Ambush Rey.

The updated version of this deck now uses 2 copies of Hunker Down.
