I have been playing this at the casual tourneys for the last 3 weeks and then finally at the Store Champs on 30/7/17 as my pick to try and get that sweet Phasma card.

The deck is built to play the tempo game and is less about going all in and more about options. It can keep pace with nearly any deck if need be but it has the capacity to fall back on control as well.

I was 18-2 from the 4 casual tournaments prior to the store champs and on the day went 4-1 in the swiss for a 1st place finish then lost in the final vs a mirror deck.

The field was

  • 4x eVader/Guard (i apparently inspired a few people :P)
  • 3x ePoe/eMaz
  • 2x eVader (SOR)/eKylo
  • 2x eHan/eSnap
  • 1x ePalp
  • 1x ePhasma/ Enforcer/ trooper
  • 1x eUnkar/ Vader (awk)
  • 1x eAurra/ Fn
  • 1x Ebala/Fn/Guard

Round 1 Vs Han/Snap - Win Killed snap turn 2 with a force strike as he rolled in. Han couldn't keep up with guardian and dice defense, R3 hit Vibro and it was over. Also managed to pull the strings a second chance to the bottom.

Round 2 Vs Rainbow Nines - Win My Testing partner and we were hoping not to get matched this early. Tight match he won the battlefield so i didnt get my cargo hold and he had a round 2 boundless ambition that led into a lot of damage but i managed to get fn off the board round 3 before he played another weapon with a force strike and he only had 1 redeploy weapon. The game ended with vader on 1 life and the guard on 2 but i got there with a no mercy and deflect

Round 3 Vs Emo Kids - Win Had the Cargo hold and i outpaced him, move all his upgrades to vader and killed him t3 taking force speed holocron and vibro off the table. Double speed vibro vader vs naked kylo is not pretty

Round 4 Vs Poe Maz Detailed account because it was a crazy close match Nearly lost this one but - Win

-R1 I got hit and run thermaled and falconed as well has having to guardian 1 damage worse still i rolled out 2x 3 damage on vader to be defensive positioned netting only 2 damage on Maz from guards die. Not a Great start

-R2 I managed to guardian off a 2 damage before it go thrown at vader but coped the 3 for 1. Both Vader dice got removed through DL-44 and electroshock before i could make anything of them. I managed to roll the 2 on the guard and double saber throw plus resolve to kill off Maz and she took her goggles with her.

-R3 Guardian took 2 more damage deflected another for 2 damage on poe and coped 4 to Guard from a rocket launcher off a poe special killing him. Lost 1 Vader dice to the second def position but managed to no mercy for 5 on Poe after he claimed and finished off with a pull the strings shoving all the special targets i pulled to the bottom.

-R4 I drew a Deflect and a force strike. He rolled in and got blank disrupt 3 damage which i deflected to put him to 9. He re rolled hit a special and a 2 ranged. I rolled Vader he resolved ranged and i force striked for the win. leaving me on 3 life staring down a poe special for which he drew a Uwing for. He also had a dug in but had decided to race, if he played that the game would have been out of reach. Lesson is to stay in it and play to your outs as well as theirs.

Round 5 Vs Vader/Guard - Lost Mirror is a bit fickle. He eventually got control of the flow of the match my force speeds refused to roll specials which didn't let me get around the removal but he is a good player and capitalized brilliantly on my stumble

Top 4 Vs Phasma/Enforcer/Trooper (My wife playing this one) - Win Harder match up especially with an early salvage stand out, but cargo hold really comes into shine if you get it. Just keep moving upgrades off plasma and focus down a guardian target. Still was pretty low at the end because backup muscle is a thing :(

Final Vs Vader Guard (Same guy, he beat Aurra/Fn to get here) - Lost

My dice refused to cooperate vs enemy Vader haha. It wasn't a white wash completely. Getting the shields is really important for this match as it cuts off saber throw burn and going second isn't so much a detriment as guardian plays a huge part. Probably the biggest turning point was losing 3 dice (including both vaders) to 1 feel your anger.

Over all i like the deck, pretty strong vs an open field and has a lot of play options. The flex spots would be Lightsaber/Makashi/Pulling the strings/deflect The rest i would consider core. Against a heavy Unkar field i would go up on sabers to skirt around inspection better. Deflect can drop in super heavy melee metas and could become high ground if your prepared for faster claims. Pull the strings was mainly in to fill the role of friends in low places in future turns but its a handy play while waiting to guardian something. Plus putting second chances or rise agains down the bottom as well as any removal you see isnt a joke. Neither is digging for force strike. Intimidate is also great because without a way to strip shields deflect and saber throw don't advance your game plan at all.

Any questions leave a comment :)

How does this fair against palp, I run a similar deck and really struggle

@Plymouthdean86 One of the 4 losses was vs a palp deck. He did get off a R2 Rise again from a Premonitions Returning Force Lightning and he did Feel Your Anger 4 of my dice on R3 so the game definately didn't go my way. As it was i still had him milled and on 3 Life when i lost. Another factor was his battlefield Otoh Gunga - Naboo i struggled to keep it off him so he healed maybe 6 or 7 over the game.

All that said i think its a fairly even match up with the slight edge to us now. Since losing to that i have beaten 2 more at tourneys and . Pulling the Strings (which i added to the deck after that night with the loss) Hoses Rise Again, Premonitions and also helps to push his removal to the bottom. Guardian works really well and we have a massive amount of removal for his dice. The early turns lean on guardian and spend your resources on vibro knife force strike saber throw and no mercy then during r2 and r3 look to play the disruptive game take the resources off him when you can strip his shields with intimidate so he will want to resolve shield sides which are less dangerous to you and try to remove a minimum of 1 die per round of his.

The consistency of the events should get you there, 3 to 6 damage a turn with dice defense should get you there as long as you prevent the rise again
