I won a small win-a-box event at Rebel Outpost Cards and Games (in Wyong, Aus) with this deck against a field of 9 players.

I played a tonne of Yoda-Hondo in Legacies season and felt like Yoda-Cassian is a natural evolution of the deck. I play it very similarly to Yoda-Hondo but I'm sure there are other ways to build it.

Matchups!

Round 1: Plo-Padawans, Win.

Plo-Padawans can be pretty scary but unfortunately he missed 2 costs and only found an heirloom for Plo. I found a Force Speed in round 1 and a Force Wave in round 2. Removal suite kept me alive as well as Frozen Wastes - Starkiller Base.

Round 2: Luke Ezra BTL, Win.

Unfortunately this guy also only found one upgrade (Ezra Bridger's Lightsaber until round 3. And the redeploy didnt matter because of the spread damage from Wave and Cassian's trigger.

Round 3: Aphra Ciena Bossk, Win.

This guy thought I was playing Mill and mulliganed for the wrong stuff. I got the first action Force Wave and against a slower three character that's pretty much game.

Round 4: Luke Rey, Win.

Against my wife. We've played a lot of this matchup and it seems pretty even, and even this game seemed in her favor early. I missed my damage upgrades until round 3 but the CR-2 Heavy Blaster on Cassian Andor - Rebellion Operative with Second Chance wins games.

All in all was a good day, in hindsight I got pretty lucky, and I hope that this gives a good starting point for anyone looking to play Yoda-Cassian!

This deck is begging for x8s!

Interesting you went for agro, most yoda-cassian decks are mill. Any reason why?

WillHope@DF 247

@stranglebat Yeah those will probably replace the CR-2 Heavy Blaster... I have resolved the special for the 4 exactly 1 time... but I also never play slow enough to use the pay'n'flip really. But yeah for sure. Another consideration was Verpine Sniper Rifle.

@GandalfsHat I dont love playing mill, I think Ancient Lightsaber is a stupidly good card and losing to it because of the infinite cycle just feels gross... when it rotates I might try again... but I simply prefer playing damage I think! Big fan of Rogue One and wanted to put Cassian Andor - Rebellion Operative to work ASAP as he is probs my fave Star Wars character.

@WillHope@DF Why did you decide to use Vandalize, when all of your character dice are so good?

WillHope@DF 247

@Razelll Its a bit of a 2 trick pony. Trick 1 - Force Speed Trick 2 - It Binds All Things and Force Illusion.

I would trade either a Cassian dice or a Yoda dice to burn an IBAT before it can get used, or a Force Illusion during cheating to secure a kill... but in matchups where Im not looking for those cards, its always a pitch. :)

@WillHope@DF Ok. I just didn't know which cards you were aiming for. Also would you acually spend a resource just to get rid of Force Speed?

WillHope@DF 247

Yeah 100%.

In decks that can make use of it, Force Speed single-handedly wins games. Im playing Blue Yellow Hero because I want to play all the removal like Easy Pickings, Entangle, Overconfidence, etc - Speed can really reduce your opportunity to use those cards... If I built the deck to be lighter on removal in a different version, I could leave it out... but I just dont think thats the right direction for this deck for me.

@Razelll Play against a special chaining force-speed deck. It hurts, hard. Def. worth the resource.

I've personally not found it that useful, but I could be wrong! My thinking is that games dont go that long, if Im playing a lone operative in round 3/4, I would probably rather just play Hyperspace or 2 removal pieces. Lone Operative is good for living forever, but you dont need to live forever, you just need to live longer than the other guy/girl.

As always, happy to be wrong, but I personally just dont like using it so much. :)

@GandalfsHat I do think I am kinda lucky tho, cuz at my local game stores, almost nobody runs chaining Force Speed decks.
